Engineer – Systems Mechanical Standard Parts

Context
Within the scope of the Materials & Processes (M&P) engineering for Systems, the job holder will contribute towards the global effort to design, develop & qualify mechanical system standard parts and associated manufacturing processes along the Aircraft development lifecycle.

Details
The jobholder will contribute to System Mechanical Standard Parts development and qualification activities by analysing the need for qualification, leading the technical qualification project, liaising with different departments in Airbus, managing suppliers and analysing & approving test results for all Airbus aircraft programs.
The job holder will also support to manufacturing and in-service issues on Systems mechanical standard parts.

Job scope

The detailed responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure development and qualification of system standard parts like Fittings / Hydraulic Pipes / Bellows & Labels and other standard parts
  • Function as Product Family Responsible [PFR] for mechanical systems standard part product portfolio
  • Propose, develop and integrate innovative products under systems engineering
  • Participate in design reviews and provide mechanical systems standard part expertise
  • Analyze the necessity of new standard part request and provide technical analysis
  • Derive technical specifications for standard parts, propose alternatives, write test plan/test procedure and compliance verification
  • Standard Part implementation on Airbus shop floor/RSPs by shop trials, writing/updating process specifications
  • Practise project management by providing weekly/monthly reports, schedule, risk mitigation & monitoring the qualification activities
  • Support aircraft certification, Manufacturing plants, Aircrafts in-service on mechanical system standard part queries.
  • Technical documentation related to qualification of mechanical system standard parts like Qualification test reports, product standards, manufacturing process specifications etc.

Repair Approval (Daily Repair)

Description of the job

Airframe team at Airbus India is looking for a CVE/DAE to join the Repair Approval team in Airbus India, Bangalore, working with the Repair approval EIAZE, Repair and Engineering services, Product Integrity in Toulouse, France.

Job scope (Tasks & accountabilities)

The Jobholder exercises the Repair approval legal privileges granted by EASA to Airbus in full compliance with Part 21 and Design organization Approval requirements, maintaining the Airbus privileges for repair design approval, ensuring on time approval for the continued satisfaction of ours customers.

The jobholder guarantees the Airworthiness of the repair design defined by Airbus, verifying for repair that event relative to airworthiness are reported by ISRO (In service occurrence), reporting airworthiness issue to a Chief Airworthiness Engineer.

Main problems to be solved in the position

The requirements for the Repair Compliance Verification Engineer/ Designated Airworthiness Engineer (CVE/DAE) for the Repair Approval process are:

  • Reviews the repair dossier from the Customer Services, appraises the repair design, verifies the compliance to applicable requirements as Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) if relevant and completes the repair Approval Designee checklist in order to approve the Repair, as Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) or communicate specific refusal to the customer support.
  • Verifies the correctness of the repair design archiving, checks the possible unsafe conditions and report airworthiness issues to the Repair approval manager and the relevant Chief Airworthiness Engineer (CAE) to guarantee product safety and maintain our privilege
  • When required, manages the AMOC acceptance dossiers with the CAE and the Authorities.
  • Communicates to the customer Services by answering timely to our Customer in order to maintain Airbus Brand Image
  • Report issues in order to support the head of repair approval, for training or reporting or improvement on the repair approval.
  • The same individual shall be able to manage both roles of CVE and DAE in the repair approval process. Repair CVE/DAE should have sufficient capability in terms of skills, Knowledge of tools, constraints and duties to support the repair approval tasks.

Required Domain Expertise (skills)

  • Graduate/Post Graduate Engineer (Aerospace Engineering / Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering)
  • An Structural Engineer, widely experienced on structure engineering knowledge, with an integrated view of the aircraft Design and its operation/maintenance with the following requirements :
  • The engineer has a proven experience on large aircraft structure, and preferably on Airbus products. This experience is gained from areas such as manufacture, maintenance or design and the most appropriate is that of structural stress engineer.
  • Good knowledge about Aircraft structure
  • Significant background in hand calculation (static and/or Fatigue)
  • Technically competent with the Design principles used to the compliance data.
  • Preferably with an exposure to Structural Repair Manual and other Aircraft maintenance documents is an added advantage.
  • Significant knowledge about calculation method, good understanding of structural behavior.
  • Conceptual Knowledge/Understanding of Airbus Tools for Static and/or Fatigue calculations is preferable
  • Exposure to Airbus stress and/or F&DT manuals

These experiences will reinforce the back ground of the candidate, his/her capacity in understanding, integrated design, airworthiness and maintenance/operations of an aircraft.

The position has an Airworthiness function, the following requirements are a plus:

  • Engineer should be knowledgeable of the Airworthiness domain, on process product and technical requirements and integrated aircraft design, in addition should be able to question and to understand application of technical airworthiness requirements.
  • Should have a sound knowledge of Product Design.
  • Conversant with the roles and responsibilities of a Type Certificate holder operating under a Design Organization Approval granted by EASA.
  • Experience in the various approval procedures (EASA Part 21 / CS / JAR / FAR).

  • Act as a problem manager, responsible from the identification of the problem through the resolution as either a request for change or a new entry in the known-error database

  • Accountable for ensuring that the knowledge management system is regularly updated with new and useful articles regarding support, maintenance and software development learnt lessons and/or good practices for Semaphore Remedy.

  • Proactively communicate with service manager about the solution approach, progress status, execution of the development in pipeline and delivery of the requested application changes

  • Manage software development projects and lead the technical team
