The IFRC, SESAR and others partner with Airbus, acting together as responsible citizens to meet societal and environmental challenges.
Revitalising the global partnership for sustainable development
Airbus actively supports the Airbus Foundation which works with the global humanitarian community, partnering with key stakeholders, international organizations like the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) and local communities to leverage our aerospace expertise to make a difference, including organizing supply transport for disaster relief and supporting youth programmes in the communities we serve.
The Airbus Commercial Aircraft Sustainable Aviation Engagement Programme, launched in 2015 brings together Airbus, airlines, air traffic providers, airports and sustainable fuels producers to work together to reduce the environmental impact of aircraft in operations.
Towards smarter aviation: Europe’s SESAR programme
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is contributing to the improvement of european air traffic management (EATM) with its participation in the SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) joint undertaking. The initiative aims to improve control of aircraft flying the skies of Europe and reduce airport congestion – which could reduce CO2 emissions by 10% per flight.
Partnerships have been launched with airlines such as British Airways and Cathay Pacific to explore how best practices can be brought together to sustainably reduce the impact of aviation on the environment.
Airbus also leads or participates in a variety of European and international partnerships and initiatives to improve the sustainability of the aerospace industry.

Airbus' growing partnership with the Red Cross
In seeking to adapt new technologies to disaster response, Airbus and the IFRC have stepped up their collaboration. For example, during October 2016 the Airbus Foundation coordinated the Company's resources to help Haiti alleviate damage caused by Hurricane Matthew. In addition to these philanthropic partnerships, Airbus employees around the globe are committed to volunteering their free time for causes they believe in.
